Benefits of Pineapple Juice Drink
Strengthens the immune system
Drinking pineapple juice can boost the immune system and shorten the recovery time when sick. In a study conducted in the Philippines, researchers examined the effects of pineapples in school-age children. Children who were provided with canned pineapple juice in their daily diets were less likely to be infected with viruses and bacteria than those who did not drink pineapple juice. The recovery time of these children when sick is also shortened.
Good digestion
Bromelain is an enzyme contained in pineapples and this fruit juice has been shown to help break down and digest proteins. Bromelain in capsule form has also been shown to be effective in reducing swelling, bruising, shortening wound healing time, and post-operative pain. However, conventional processing when squeezing pineapple juice can reduce the amount of bromelain contained in the juice.
Support for cancer treatment
This is the result of a lab study in which fresh pineapple juice was used to inhibit ovarian and colon cancer cells. Pineapple also contains beta-carotene. According to the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health (USA), beta-carotene may play a protective role against prostate cancer. In another study, people who ate more foods containing beta-carotene others have a reduced risk of colon cancer. However, more in-person studies are needed on the effects of pineapple juice on cancer.
Good for the eyes
The vitamin C found in pineapples can help keep eyes healthy and avoid cataracts, and one study found that a diet rich in vitamin C can reduce the risk of cataracts by more than 30%.
